Certified Coding Auditor for Department of the Army Tacoma WA

Our Client, a Northern Virginia based company that offers a diverse range of administrative and personnel support services to federal, state, and local government agencies as well as private sector clients is seeking to hire a full time Certified Coding Auditor to perform outpatient coding. Candidates must possess a CPC from the AAPC and a Certified Professional Medical Auditor certification is required in order to receive consideration for this opportunity.

This employment opportunity is in support of a contract with the Department of the Army Patients Administration Division, Medical Records Branch. The place of employment will be Madigan Army Medical Center Tacoma, WA. This is not a remote opportunity.

Responsibilities: Apply outpatient coding classification standards and guidelines to medical record documentation; ensure that all encounter documentation is evaluated for consistency with the nature of the patient encounter (i.E., audit); evaluate occurrences of deficiencies and/or inconsistencies in medical record documentation through the healthcare provider query process, and assist health care providers in proper code selection. The Coding Auditor shall perform the duties and tasks associated with auditing Government coded outpatient records and providing training sessions.


Possess and maintain one of the following certifications issued by AHIMA or AAPC.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Registered Health Information Technician Certificate (RHIT)
Certified Professional Medical Auditor certification is required
Minimum 5 years of in healthcare industry, with either hands-on outpatient coding/auditing experience or teaching coding classes.
Associate s degree in healthcare or related field, and supplemented with two years of related work experience. Three years of medical auditing is preferred

Personnel security investigation required.
A medical examination is required.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
Up to 25% of travel may be required to assist commands with training.
