CTR Group is seeking an experienced Director of Communications for a Non-Profit Organization in the Newport News, VA area!

Salary Range: $60K - $65K

The Director of Communications (DC) is expected to create and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to support the Non-Profit Company's mission.

The essential duties and responsibilities are:

  • Oversee and manage all communications and media for the Executive, her staff, commissions, boards, committees, and related entities including to include newsletters and websites.

  • Assist with special event planning and publicizing events to include the design and presentation of audio visuals at Annual Council meetings.

  • Develop and maintain a communications style guide for consistent branding for the Organization's materials.

  • Design and manage content for any digital and print materials needed for the Organization's activities, foundations, commissions, boards, committees, and related entities.

  • Identify appropriate social media networks and plan and implement communication strategies for those networks.

  • Gather and identify appropriate news stories to support and promote from affiliates and other stakeholders.

  • Report on the Organization's events and activities by text and video.

  • Be a spokesperson for external media networks and develop/issue press releases as necessary.

  • Assist affiliates and stakeholders with communications consulting and training in best practices.

  • Manage communications grant funding.

  • Supervise and manage the work of the Media Specialist and anyone else assigned to the DC.

Required Competencies

Strong leadership skills and written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Zoom communication software, good record keeping and organizational skills, ability to work independently and prioritize workflow, and ability to work collaboratively with others. Familiarity with Episcopal polity and practice a plus. A bachelor's degree or higher in communications is desired or 5+ years relevant communications experience.

Work Location: Newport News, VA (may lead to an at-home work location w/experience) and some off-site locations.
