Pay: $30
Responsibilities:
- Operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface grinders to fabricate and repair ship components.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure accurate machining.
- Cut, thread, bore, and taper shafts, rudder stocks, stern tubes, and other marine parts.
- Use measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to verify accuracy.
- Work with both manual and computer-controlled (CNC) machines for precision cutting.
- Follow safety protocols, including proper handling of tools and materials.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of machining tools.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with machining techniques, including turning, boring, and threading.
- Ability to produce precise components that meet specifications.
- Knowledge of trigonometry and measurements for machining calculations.
- Ability to work in shipyards or manufacturing environments.
Work Environment:
Marine inside machinists typically work in shipyards or marine repair facilities, handling large-scale machining tasks for naval or commercial vessels. The job may involve working in confined spaces and requires adherence to strict safety standards.
