Position Overview:
We are seeking hardworking and reliable Laborers to join our team. This role involves performing routine physical tasks, assisting with material handling, equipment cleaning, and operating various tools. Laborers support blasting and painting operations by pulling hoses, mucking tanks, and removing grit. Additional duties may be assigned to ensure the safe and timely completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform physical labor under supervision, following both oral and written instructions.
Move materials, tools, and equipment manually or with assistance (dolly, hand truck, cart, forklift).
Assist blasters by handling hoses, mucking tanks, and removing grit using vacuum hoses or manual methods.
Clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas using water, vacuums, brushes, and other cleaning tools.
Operate a variety of tools, including pneumatic, electric, and hand tools.
Follow safety procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
Perform additional tasks as needed to support project completion.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: No formal education required.
Experience: On-the-job training provided; prior labor or shipyard experience is a plus.
Skills:
Ability to work well with team members and shipyard personnel.
Willingness to take direction from supervisors and senior team members.
Strong work ethic and reliability.
Physical & Mental Demands:
Regularly required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl in various environments, including heights and confined spaces.
Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Requires full range of vision, including close-up, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustments in low-light conditions.
May require wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
Must be able to follow simple to complex instructions and work efficiently in a physically demanding environment.
Work Environment:
Exposure to dust, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, and various weather conditions.
Work may be performed on scaffolds, ladders, or in tight spaces.
Safety gear, including eye, head, and hearing protection, is required.
Shift work, overtime, and travel may be necessary.
