1ST & 2ND Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:45 PM & 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
JOURNEYPERSON 4 (Marine Electrician)
- Be proficient at reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Be proficient at planning, laying-out and installing equipment and cabling.
- Be proficient at using VOMs, Meggers, Amp and Phase rotation meters, etc. for troubleshooting, testing, and circuit analysis.
- Be proficient as a Lead Electrician capable of guiding and training junior electricians with minimum supervision.
- Be proficient at troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems to component level.
- Be proficient at accomplishing standard items 009-36 and 16’s on electrical/electronic equipment.
- Have or be capable of passing Connectorization School when training becomes available.
- Have a good working knowledge of standard items and epism.
- Exceed all the requirements listed below.
JOURNEYPERSON 3 (Marine Electrician)
- Have a working knowledge of standard items and epism.
- Good fundamental understanding on how to use electrical test equipment.
- Proficient at reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints.
- Licensed to operate trade related industrial equipment.
- Well defined troubleshooting skills.
- Capable of laying out and installing equipment and cabling under direction of a supervisor or lead electrician.
- Fundamental understanding of power distribution, motors, controllers, transformers, circuit protection and cable ampacity.
- Exceed the requirements below.
JOURNEYPERSON 2 (Marine Electrician)
- Should have a fundamental knowledge of electrical theory and basic ship’s electrical safety and good work practices.
- Have a good understanding of electrical safety and good work practices.
- Have a firm understanding on how to use power and hand tools associated with the trade.
- Have a firm knowledge on ship’s compartmental layout.
- Capable of running cable including banding, packing transits, packing tubes under direction of a supervisor or senior electrician.
- Capable of installing and hooking up electrical equipment using drawings or “run sheets” under direction of a supervisor or senior electrician.
- Exceed the requirements below.
JOURNEYPERSON 1 (Marine Electrician)
- Enroll and pass all pre-approved classes on electrical theory, blueprint reading and electrical fundamentals.
- Be able to follow instructions from a supervisor.
- Be able to install temporary services using correct wire and breaker sizes.
- Have a basic knowledge of a ship’s compartmental lay-out.
