SUMMARY:
The Marine Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment on boats, ships, and marine facilities. This includes wiring, fixtures, controls, and other electrical devices. The role demands a high level of technical knowledge and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Install, test, and maintain electrical systems in marine vessels, including lighting, wiring, and electrical equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in marine electrical systems and equipment.
- Ensure all electrical work is compliant with maritime safety and operational standard.
- Read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics and marine blueprints.
- Coordinate with shipbuilding teams or maintenance crews to ensure proper installation and functionality of electrical systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on electrical systems to prevent malfunctions and hazards.
- Work in varied environments, including at sea, in shipyards, and marine construction sites.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience as a Marine Electrician or similar role.
- Familiarity with maritime safety practices and electrical standards.
- Technical training or certification in electrical engineering or related fields is highly preferable.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in confined and potentially hazardous environments.
- Capable of physical mobility, including climbing, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
Work Environment:
The work typically occurs in shipyards, docks, on board ships, or at marine facilities. Conditions can be challenging and may require work in all weather conditions and at various hours.
