Position Overview:
The Material Handler is responsible for safely and efficiently moving, organizing, and managing materials within the warehouse. This role is essential in supporting production and shipping operations while ensuring inventory accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely load, unload, and move materials to designated areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
- Organize and store materials in appropriate locations, maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse.
- Perform inventory counts and ensure inventory records are accurate.
- Prepare materials for production or shipping, including packing, labeling, and staging.
- Operate RF scanners and Warehouse Management System (WMS) tools to track material movements.
- Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment, reporting any issues to the Warehouse Supervisor immediately.
- Assist with unloading deliveries and restocking inventory as needed.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all quality and safety standards in daily operations.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and suggest ways to enhance operations.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Prior warehouse or material handling experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment (training provided).
- Proficient with Warehouse Management System (WMS) applications and RF scanners.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic math skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and fingers.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a non-climate-controlled warehouse with temperature variations depending on weather.
- Noise levels are moderate due to machinery and equipment.
- Safety gear, including vests and other equipment, must be worn as required.
