CTR Group is seeking a HEAVY-DUTY TRUCK & OFF ROAD MECHANIC for a Manufacturer in the Portsmouth, VA, area. An immediate opening and urgently hiring!
A Direct-Hire Position
Pay Range: $20 - $28 per Hour and Benefits.
SUMMARY:
The Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components on heavy‐duty trucks. This role ensures fleet reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports safe operation of all vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Perform truck preventative maintenance and trailer service work on our Company vehicles, but typically no engine repairs.
Focus on other service requirements like brake jobs, some electrical issues, starter repairs, battery changes, etc.
Also perform maintenance work on forklifts and cranes.
Also perform service work on gas and diesel welders, etc.
Some of our work is done in the factory yard, outside of the shop.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience as a diesel or heavy‐duty truck mechanic
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, emissions systems, and diagnostic tools
Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and technical bulletins
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
Understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards
Problem‐solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to lift heavy components and work in various shop conditions
Own basic hand tools required.
Preferred Qualifications
ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T‐Series)
CDL (Class A or B)
Experience with fleet maintenance software
