Position Overview
We’re seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our dynamic job shop team in Mobile, AL. This role involves setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machines to produce custom parts for diverse industries. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and thrive in a fast-turnaround environment where no two jobs are the same.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements
Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machine parameters for each job
Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
Adjust machine settings and tooling offsets to maintain tolerances and surface finishes
Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to resolve machining challenges and optimize setups
Maintain accurate production records and ensure traceability of parts
Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly
Uphold safety standards and contribute to a clean, organized shop environment
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship preferred
3+ years of CNC machining experience in a job shop or custom manufacturing setting
Proficient in G-code programming and editing at the machine
Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and cutting speeds/feeds
Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings
Familiarity with tight tolerances and quality control procedures
Comfortable working independently and managing multiple job orders
Preferred Skills
Experience with multi-axis CNC machines or manual machining
Knowledge of CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360)
