CTR Group is seeking a Shipfitter for our client in Somerset, MA. Immediate openings and urgently hiring!

Pay: $29-$33 PLUS per diem for non-local
Candidates will have to interview/test in person
Upon offer of employment, Candidate must pass pre-employment physical and drug test. Random drug testing conducted throughout employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications.
- Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, including bulkheads, web- frames, railings, foundations, plating and other structural members.
- Assemble, cut and grind metal structural parts to include plates, bulkheads, strong backs, and turnbuckles. Align parts in relation to each other.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Perform layout work according to blueprints or reference lines.
- Mark locations of holes to be drilled, drive wedges and install temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding.
- Have a reasonable knowledge of basic welding to assure proper fit and prep.
- Basic reading, writing and math skills. Ability to read drawings, blueprints and design sketches.
- Capability of using hand tools and power tools safely.
- Candidates must also be able to read a tape measure, level, and square.
- Must be able to operate overhead hoisting equipment.
- Candidate must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport equipment and boxes up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work on and climb ladders, bend, stoop, crawl and work aboard ships both in the shipyard and on the water.
- Ability to work under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
- Must be capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment and work in a noisy and physically demanding environment.
